Mission Statement

Focus Ireland are driven by the fundamental belief that homelessness is wrong. They work with people who need support to avoid becoming homeless and who need help to end their experience of homelessness and move into a safe and secure home. From the very beginning, their work has been rooted in deep listening to people, learning about the problems and risks they face and pointing to where the solutions lie. 

Why I’m sleeping out against homelessness again

Come Friday night, October 11th, I'll be doing something I've done for almost a decade: sleeping out in support of those who require the services of Focus Ireland. 

It's a small gesture in the greater scheme of things but my only night of discomfort every calendar year represents my attempt to show solidarity both with those experiencing homelessness and the Focus Ireland team which supports individuals and families through some of the most stressful and heartbreaking times of their lives. 

None of us should have to 'Shine A Light' like this. But as homeless numbers continue to rise in Ireland, we have no option other than to do so. Whatever contribution you can give will, as it has been in previously years, be enormously appreciated. Many thanks. #ShineALight #FocusIreland
