Focus Ireland

For 40 years, since Sister Stan first opened a coffee shop in Dublin’s Temple Bar, to serve people living on the streets and bring attention to Ireland’s homelessness crisis, Focus Ireland has supported countless families facing homelessness, to get and keep a home.
We know the toll homelessness takes on people, living with the fear, the worry, and uncertainty. Having a secure home is the most basic of foundations we can have in life.
And yet, 40 years on, homelessness in Ireland is rapidly growing, and it’s not only people on the streets today, but thousands more in temporary accommodation. This anniversary isn’t a time for celebration. This is a moment to demand that our government fulfills its duty towards children.
Enough is enough. In Ireland in 2025, we must not allow another scandal affecting thousands of children, to go unnoticed, without action. It’s just not who we are.

Focus Ireland has over 100 centres nationwide with over 300 staff and offers a variety of support to people experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless.
We provide healthy, hot meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—365 days a year for people experiencing homelessness. It's a safe, welcoming place for anyone who needs a nutritious meal as well as advice and support.
When a young person leaves the care system at 18, our aftercare services provide continued support, advice, and guidance. We offer dedicated residential aftercare, settlement support, and long-term housing in Dublin, Limerick, and Sligo.
The Caretakers Project supports homeless young people under 18 who have no access to alternative care. We help them find stability during a difficult time, move out of homelessness, and prevent them from becoming trapped in long-term homelessness.
The Extension Service is a space just for young people (ages 18-26) facing or at risk of homelessness. Our goal is to create a welcoming space where they can get individual support, focus on their well-being, and have fun with youth-work activities.
