We’re sleeping out against homelessness
On November 29th, our school will host a unique event. Rather than returning home after the final bell, 6th year students and staff will be exchanging the comfort of their beds for sleeping bags as part of our School Sleep Out, in support of Focus Ireland’s Shine A Light initiative.
This event might seem unconventional, but it highlights an urgent issue. Currently, more than 4,000 children across our country are without a safe place to call home. These children cannot unwind and feel secure after a school day, facing instead a daily reality filled with uncertainty and challenges no child should endure.
Our school’s participation in this sleep out is significant—it offers us a small glimpse into the difficulties encountered by young people who experience homelessness.
Childhood should be a time of dreaming and spending time with friends, not of uncertainty about where to sleep each night. We kindly ask for your support of our school’s fundraising efforts by contributing to our donation page. Every contribution, regardless of size, brings us closer to a future where every child has a safe and secure home.
