I’m sleeping out against homelessness inside Edmund Rice College

Hi I’m Denis Kuznecovs, and on Friday 9 October, I’ll be sleeping out to help shine a light on homelessness in Edmund Rice College.

For many of us, having a safe place to sleep, somewhere to study, eat with our families and spend time with friends is something we can take for granted. But for thousands of children in Ireland, this isn’t their reality.

More than 5,500 children are growing up without a secure home. Behind that number are real children missing out on the everyday moments that make childhood what it should be.

That’s why I’m taking part in Focus Ireland’s Shine A Light with my school. I’m stepping outside my comfort zone for one night to stand in solidarity with people who don’t have a safe place to call home.

Every child deserves safety, stability and the chance to grow up in a home they can rely on.
