I’m sleeping out against homelessness

For years, we've watched the homelessness crisis grow in Ireland. Thousands of children are caught in the middle of it, and it's simply not right. This isn't something we have to accept; it is a question of political will, and choice. And we can’t, as a nation, allow this to continue.

So, on Friday 10 October, I'm going to be stepping way out of my comfort zone. I’ll be joining my colleagues for a Workplace Sleep Out for Focus Ireland's Shine A Light, trading my cosy bed for a sleeping bag for the night. This isn't just about a single night of discomfort; it’s about raising absolutely critical funds for Focus Ireland to help them meet the growing demand for their services.

More than that, though, it’s about making a stand and saying that having thousands of children without a home is just unacceptable.

Please show your support by donating to my fundraising page: every contribution, big or small, gets us closer to creating a future where every child has a safe place to call home.

Airport Security

Good morning Martin, We have a party of three in detention here at present, a ‘Martin’, ‘Mary’ and ‘Maureen’. None of the three have passports, they have one left sandal and one right welly between them, and they are proving to be inseparable from a share size bag of Bassetts Liqourice Allsorts. They said to contact you, and that you would know where Martin keeps his teeth.

Hi Pat, it's Larry here. I'm just after dropping Maureen to the airport now. We didn't get the sandals but I'll pick them up when I'm down the town. There's rain forecast in Spain for the week anyway so she's ended up wearing the wellies so she won't miss the sandals. Maureen said to say that the lamp shop has turned into a nail salon but I hear you're missing your glasses so you mightn't have noticed. All the best, Larry

Mary O'regan

Hi Larry, I rang Pat but he was incoherent beyond saying that he has done a runner. Poor Maureen and her flip flops / Y fronts! I dread the thought that she'd be out in Spain without appropriate footwear. If she is stuck for sandals come Saturday I am happy to lend my Doctor Martin's, she will be more than fitted with them for her trip. God Bless Mary O'Regan

Pat O Regan

Hi Mary. Ive left maureens flip flops inside in the spar beside that lamp shop you enjoy. Currently looking for my glasses. If you find them leave them in larrys porch he’ll sort them out

Hi Mary, will you send Pat back up to the house, he's after heading off up the town with Maureen's sandals and she's heading to Spain in the morning. Thanks x

Mary Rose O’regan

Hi Folks, just wanted to clear up any confusion as to the fate of “O’Regans Lamps & Lanterns”. We’re not closed l, we’ve just moved to the other side of Spar (where the nail salon used to be). If anyone is in need of lamps & lanterns or lamps & lantern accessories then come on down and give us a visit. Also, if anyone happens to see Martin who works at the airport could you tell him that his great grandfather’s reading lantern was unfortunately crumpled in the move. Thanks
